Welcome to Movie News in Review, a weekly article highlighting movie news and trailers that you may have missed. You’ll get all of the movie news you want with a little bit of snark. And yes, snark is a word, just ask Urban Dictionary. The best part is you will find no fake news here!
Raise a glass to Ben Affleck, but don’t ask him to join in on the toast!
Can someone bring the LGBTQ-hating Faith Driven Consumers into the present for its stand against one scene in Beauty and the Beast? While we’re at it, perhaps we can work on the Anglican Church for its advisory against the film and Malysia for asking to cut “the scene”. With all of these protests, Beauty and the Beast still managed to break multiple box office records this week so perhaps all of these fights simply made it more of a box office draw.
If you haven’t seen James Corden in his newest crosswalk production, be our guest and check it out above.
He’s baaaaaaaack! Or maybe not…
Luke Skywalker brought a lightsaber to a knife fight with our President. Check out Mark Hamill’s epic smackdown on The Trumpster.
In this week’s WTF new movie announcement, see what classic 80’s video game has a release date on the 2018 calendar.
It’s a new week so that must mean another disastrous move by DC. Aquaman is being pushed back two months to launch in December and now will compete head-to-head with the newest Spiderman movie. Another nail in the DC coffin?
Henry Cavill joins the cast of Mission: Impossible 6 giving him his first movie in years that people may actually enjoy (NOTE: Unlike most, I loved The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
How do you ensure Escape Plan 2 goes straight to video? Add Jaime King and 50 Cent to the cast.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is finally getting a sequel…and with an A-list actress in the lead. Then again, don’t believe everything you read (except for what you read on Film Obsession).
Well folks, do you want to know what happens when you enjoy movies like La La Land? You get filmmakers trying to recreate the magic (and usually unsuccessfully). Talented director, Ivan Reitman, seems to think a movie with Shawn Mendes as the lead is a good idea and Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas want to do an R-rated Camp Rock 3 (good luck getting Disney to approve that!).

Pixar’s colorful new film Coco will see great success with its focus on a Hispanic boy, bringing in your typical Pixar fans, but also reaching out to the largest ethnic group in the U.S. and a growing moviegoing community in Spanish-speaking countries. Of course, this may never see a release if Donald Trump successfully builds his wall. LOL.
The Smurfs sequel feels like a movie (and series) that would be better sent straight to On Demand.
Eddie Redmayne voices a caveman (who reminds me of Adam Driver) in Early Man, the newest stop animation film from the creators of Wallace and Gromit.
I smell trouble for this animated film about two orphans and their dreams that brings no advanced buzz for an April release. Early reviews on Rotten show some promise, so time will tell.
