Jurassic World makes most of its references to the original film, but there is one very obvious nod to one of the sequel films. On main street and boardwalk, dino skeletons are littered throughout. One of those skeletons is the feared Spinosaurus…but T-Rex makes quick work of him!
Jake Johnson Fanboy
Not sure if you can count this as an official Jurassic World Easter Egg because it is so painfully obvious. Jake Johnson plays Lowery, one of many tech guys on the island. He wears an original Jurassic Park t-shirt throughout the film! Also, he get chastised for his messy desk…you know…like Dennis Nedry, the tech guy from the original film.
The Old Park
The boys eventually happen upon the old park which is littered with Jurassic World Easter Eggs! Keep an eye out for the old “When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth” sign and the infamous night-vision goggles!
The Lost World
As a callback to The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the filmmakers included stills from the original 1925 The Lost World in a child’s viewfinder near the beginning of this film. This classic film was a major influence on Spielberg’s sequel.
Jimmy Buffett Cameo
One of the more obvious product placements in the movie is Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. But you can catch Jimmy himself during the Pteranodon attack on the park boardwalk. Look hard, he’s tough to spot.
Ever been accused of smart phone addiction? Don’t suffer the same fate as Zara. This poor girl experienced the most horrific death in all of Jurassic canon. Zara spends the bulk of her time with her head in her cellphone. It’s that behavior that ultimately causes her to lose the boys in the park. In other words, she’s never really paying attention to what’s happening around her. Next thing you know a Pteranodon swoops down, attacks her face, picks her up for a few dunks in the pool and she becomes fish food for the gigantic Mosasaur lurking beneath the water.
